The year 2026 will mark the 150th anniversary of Colorado statehood and the 250th anniversary of the founding of our country. The Friends of the Royal Gorge Regional Museum will hold their Annual Membership Meeting and Program on February 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. In keeping with national and state activities, the Friends’ program is titled “Lineage of Liberty: Finding Your Revolutionary War Ancestor and the DAR” and will be presented by members of the Daughters of the American Revolution General Marion Chapter.

What led up to the American Revolution? In what capacity did your ancestor serve, and what documents were left behind? Do you want to apply for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution? What documentation will you need, and what does the local chapter of the DAR do in our community? We will address these questions and, hopefully, answer some of yours.

Refreshments will be served.

The Museum & History Center is located in the City of Cañon City’s former Municipal Building at 612 Royal Gorge Blvd. The Museum & History Center is regularly open Wednesday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, call the museum at 719-269-9036 or email historycenter@canoncity.org
