An exciting opportunity exists for individuals who wish to serve on one of the three newly established Cañon City Municipal Committees.
Letters of interest are being accepted for seven (7) Cañon City citizens, of which four (4) must live within City limits, for each of the following three committees.
The Finance, Budget, and Public Works Committee's purpose is to oversee City finances, budget development, financial policies, fiscal planning, and infrastructure management. This committee will serve as the principal coordinating body for policy-level recommendations regarding annual budget, monitor revenue and expenditures, review financial reports and audits, recommend fiscal policies, oversee debt management and capital financing, infrastructure maintenance and improvements, water and utilities, streets and transportation, information technology, and capital improvement planning.
The Public Safety and Quality of Life Committee's purpose is to address public safety, community wellbeing, and cultural resources. The committee will serve as the principal coordinating body for policy-level recommendations regarding public safety and law enforcement matters, crime reduction strategies, homelessness initiatives, parks, recreation and community services, museum and library operations and programming, community health and wellness programs, and code enforcement.
The Economic Development Committee's purpose is to foster business growth, economic vitality, and community prosperity. The committee will serve as the principal coordinating body for policy-level recommendations regarding business development and retention, tourism promotion, downtown revitalization, workforce development, public-private partnerships, regional economic collaboration, business-friendly policies and regulations, building department, and planning and zoning.
