The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin an important micro surface treatment project on June 5 on US Hwy 50 in Cañon City, CO.
Micro-surfacing is a protective coat that helps seal minor cracks and extend the life of the pavement. Work will take place along United States Highway 50A in the city of Canon City from Mile Point 277 to MP 283. CDOT has selected Geneva Rock as the prime contractor for the project.
This project will include preventative maintenance treatment to the
roadway that will be micro-surfacing. Work will primarily consist of improvements to extend the life of the pavement as cost-effectively as possible. These improvements have many important benefits including resurfacing can greatly extend the life of the asphalt pavement.
Traffic Impacts
Night-time work hours range from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday through Friday. Motorists should plan for potential 15-minute delays due to single-lane, alternating traffic. There will be an 11-foot width restriction. The project is expected to last until the end of July 2023.
