The City’s contractor (Rhoades Construction) and local utility companies will begin construction activities starting Monday, December 15th.
The City is updating Stormwater infrastructure and reconstructing the N 9th Street roadway from Washington Street to Meadows Avenue for this portion of two N 9th Street projects. The second N 9th Street project will begin after the New Year and start from Mystic Avenue to Meadows Avenue.
The contractor will begin setting traffic control measures after 8:00 a.m. Monday, but different traffic control measures will continue through the entirety of the project. There will be times there is only southbound traffic and times that N 9th Street will have a full closure from Washington Street to Candlewood Drive. Signs will be posted to help direct traffic. You can sign up for notifications on the City’s website at https://www.canoncity.org/list.aspx
On Monday, December 15th, the contractor will set up single lane traffic, traveling southbound only from Washington to Candlewood. Local access for homes and businesses south of Raintree Blvd will be accessible. Please plan ahead as traffic will be diverted from N 9th Street west onto Candlewood to N 5th Street to gain access to the top of N 9th Street. Both lanes of traffic will have ongoing construction activities but traffic will solely be southbound. No northbound traffic in the construction zone. This single lane traffic will continue for at least a week, prior to the next change in traffic measures.
Local utilities will be working alongside the City’s contractor to help with moving and upgrading utility lines above and below ground during this time. We ask for your patience when traveling for the many people and companies who will be working on this project, live here, and go to school in this area.
If you have concerns, please reach out to City's Engineering Department or Rhoades Construction.
