The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program and Fremont County Extension Office will be sponsoring free individual income tax preparation during February and March. The service is available for any age and any income within scope. This year they will be at three locations:

Tax-Aide slots are by appointment only. Call the Custer County Welcome Center at (719) 480-7230 extension 5 to schedule an appointment. Listen to the message to leave your name and phone number and they will call you back.
Before coming to the appointment, stop by the West Custer, Cañon City, or Florence library to pick up a required intake form (IRS 13614-C) and complete it. When you come to have your taxes prepared, be sure to bring that form and Social Security cards (or ITINs) for every person included in the return, a driver’s license or other government-issued picture ID for yourself and your spouse, all of your 2024 tax documents and information, and a copy of your 2023 income tax return, if possible. For a joint return, both you and your spouse must be present to approve and sign the completed return.
