Neighborhood Watch in Cañon City

About the Program

Neighborhood Watch is a program that began in the 1970’s and has continued in various forms over the years. Locally, the program is being revised and the development of new watch groups is being encouraged. Neighborhood Watch is a way for residents to collectively watch out for each other and report suspicious activity to law enforcement. The goal is to keep the community a safe place to live, work and play.

Watch groups are typically created in a smaller geographic area, such as a residential block, apartment building, cul-de-sac, etc. If there is interest in an area, meetings are held with a Cañon City Police Department member and program materials are provided. Groups only need to meet once a year, but many will opt to gather more often.
