The Holiday Motel at 15th Street & US Hwy 50 has been demolished and construction is underway for the new City Market Fuel Station. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of August.
Future access to the site will be provided via a single driveway on Main Street, just east of the roundabout. The driveway location will be approximately the same as the former Holiday Motel driveway. There will not be vehicle access to the site on the 15th Street or Hwy 50 sides of the parcel. The access is currently planned for full movements (right in/out, left in/out), which will be monitored once in operation to ensure the site functions well within the busy 15th/Main/US-50 area. The access will have separate left- and right-turn lanes to exit the fuel station to reduce on-site congestion.
The traffic study and fuel station construction plans were reviewed and accepted by both the City and Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) as the best option for the site, and will require continued monitoring and potential follow up. The development will provide an Opticom System for the traffic signal at 15th/US-50. The system will provide the ability for the Fire District to override the 15th/US-50 traffic signal in case of an emergency to clear the roundabout of traffic and prevent delays in emergency response.
