Rhodes Ave Stormwater Improvement Project

construction notice

The City’s contractor will continue to work along Rhodes Avenue between East Main and Countryside Court for the next few months. Project construction is planned through the end of May 2023.

Currently, box culvert construction is continuing north along Rhodes Ave and is nearing East Main Street. By December 1st, the Oil Creek Ditch will be turned off for the season and reconstruction of the ditch crossing and associated utility work will commence. At that time, Rhodes Avenue will be closed to through traffic between Countryside Court and East Main. Access to businesses and residences in this area will be maintained. This portion of the work is anticipated to be completed prior to the end of February 2023. Once all work on Rhodes Ave is completed, the road will be repaved from Ute Street to East Main.

Once the ditch crossing is restored, East Main will be closed as work to relocate utilities and construct new stormwater drainage under the railroad will commence. Currently, the City and our Contractor are working to finalize the necessary permits from the railroad.

Closures of driveways and disruption of utility services will be intermittent. Crews will attempt to complete all work in a way that minimizes disruption by all means possible. Your cooperation and patience during this time will be greatly appreciated. Questions or concerns about this project should be directed to the City Engineering Department at 719.269.9011 8 AM–5 PM, Monday through Friday.
