Hike With a Paleontologist!

The Royal Gorge Regional Museum & History Center will lead a moderate geology and paleontology hike with Paleontology Education Liaison with the Bureau of Land Management and the museum, Andrew Smith. Participants will have a chance to see a quarry site and enjoy activities focused on paleontology. Please be advised this event requires participants to hike and stand for the majority of the time. Interested parties should go to and click on events or calendar to register for the hike. Please register online or contact the museum for more information. This program will be held on Saturday, March 7th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM. The program is free and open to the public but this is a registered event with limited space.

The museum and history center is located in the City of Cañon City’s former Municipal Building at 612 Royal Gorge Blvd. The hours of the museum and history center are Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.  For more information, call the museum at (719) 269-9036 or send an email to
