We are very sorry to have to share with our community that City Councilor Jim Meisner passed away unexpectedly on Friday.
Jim was a dedicated public servant and volunteered a great deal of time to our community. He was not only involved in City Council but also volunteered for various organizations and events over a number of years including the Fremont Community Foundation, Chad Whitney Memorial Foundation, Orchard of Hope, Recreation and Parks District, the Chamber of Commerce, the Blossom Festival, and the Christmas Parade of Lights.
Jim’s priority while on City Council was to work on government transparency and making things easier for businesses and contractors. He was very mindful of the government’s responsibility to do what is in the best interest of the community and did his best to ensure that all projects, ordinances, resolutions, etc. were mindful of our citizens and any impacts they could potentially have.
City Staff, the Mayor, and City Council are deeply saddened by the loss of such a great community leader and we will be honoring Jim during our city council meeting tonight at 6pm. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Jolene, family, and friends.
