Public Notice of Surplus Items

In accordance with City Ordinance (#9.28.035(D)) this notice is being posted to notify the public that if they have items at the Police Department, they have 10 days from publication to claim their property.

The Canon City Police Department has collected numerous items (tools, personal items, sports equipment, household goods, vehicle parts, etc.) that were found over the past few years. The Police Department has conducted a CCIC check of all serial numbers that could be located on the found items. After a review of reports over the past eight years, we have identified as many owners as possible and attempted to contact the owners to return their property. Items whose owners could not be determined are being declared abandoned at this time.

In accordance with City Ordinance (#9.28.035(D)) this notice is being posted to notify the public that if they have items at the Police Department, they have 10 days from publication to claim their property. After 10 days, the unclaimed property will either be used by the city, destroyed/thrown away, or taken to Bonnie’s Car Crushers for recycling.

Those members of the public wishing to claim items must come to the Police Department with proof of ownership of the item they are claiming.
