Please complete the 2020 Census
As of July 28th, Cañon City has a 70.8% response rate for the 2020 Census. This is a good number but we know we can do better! If you have yet to complete your Census there is still time. Please be sure to either fill out and return the paper form you received in the mail, or you can respond by phone at 844-330-2020 or online at 2020census.gov
Completing the Census is quick, easy, and safe! Let’s make sure that each and everyone in Cañon City and Fremont County is counted. This means federal money coming back to our community to directly fund the following: emergency services, educational grants, homeless shelters, head start programs, libraries, new roads, Medicare, health clinics, health and human services, and more! With many of us spending more time at home right now, this is the perfect time to respond. Ten minutes, that is all it takes. https://2020census.gov/
Non-Response Follow Up (also called door-knocking) is a
critical 2020 Census Operation that will begin in Colorado
July 30th and in our area on August 11th.
Census Bureau workers (also called enumerators) will have an
official identification badge:
• Photo
• US Department of Commerce Watermark
• Expiration Date
Census Bureau workers/enumerators will be in the field from 9am
- 9pm. They will not enter homes. They will only ask questions on
the form, and will not ask about citizenship. The Census Bureau is
providing face masks, hand sanitizer, and gloves. Census Bureau
workers will have a computer or tablet to use to complete the
census form.
