Partnership for Safe Water

March 15, 2017

Dear Customers:

In our quest to provide the highest quality drinking water, Cañon City Water Department recently joined Partnership for Safe Water, a national volunteer initiative developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), states, and the water supply community. Our participation in this program will help ensure that our customers are receiving the highest quality drinking water and are protected from microbial contaminants, such as Cryptosporidium.

Cañon City Water Department is one of over 200 water utilities in the United States participating in the Partnership. As a member of this program, we are committed to enhancing the quality of our drinking water and operational excellence in water treatment. In making this commitment, Cañon City Water Department will undergo a rigorous review developed by national experts, including a four-step self-assessment and peer-review process. The findings of this examination will be reported to our customers.

Examining our practices is an essential step in continually improving our water quality. Employing a national resource like the Partnership will help Cañon City Water Department make local improvements, and link us with national water professionals that can provide us with advice and access to the latest technology and developments in water quality.

As we progress through this program, Cañon City Water Department will involve our customers by keeping them informed of the progress we’ve made in our water treatment, and the advances yet to come.
