Where is the police department located and what are the hours of operation?
The police department is located at 161 Justice Center Road, Cañon City, CO 81212.
The police department is staffed 24-hours a day 7-days a week, however, the reception/records window is only open Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is a phone located on the wall to the right when you enter the first door to the department for after-hours requests for assistance.
How can I get a copy of a police report?
Incident and case reports can be obtained in person at the police department, 161 Justice Center Road, Cañon City, CO 81212. Print out and complete the Police Report Request Form. Incident and Case reports are not currently available online. Accident reports can be purchased online at https://www.buycrash.com/.
How do I file a police report?
Come in to the police department and speak to a records technician during business hours and they can take your information and forward it to dispatch. You can come into our building and pick up the phone located in the lobby which connects you directly to dispatch. Dispatch can then take your information and have an officer meet with you. You may also call us directly on our non-emergency line at (719) 276-5600 to have an officer meet with you at your location within the city limits.
What types of payment does the police department accept?
The police department accepts cash, money orders and personal checks.
Is there a cost for police reports?
The costs for reports are as follows: (black/white) $0.25 per page + sales tax, (color) $1.00 per page + sales tax, (CD/DVD) $5.00 --- If listed as a victim in the requested report there is no cost for the report.
I received a citation from a City of Cañon City Police Officer, how can I find out what my fine will be?

I am an insurance agent, how can I obtain a copy of an accident report?
Accident reports can be purchased online at https://www.buycrash.com/.
Does your department do fingerprints?
Yes, Tuesday - Thursday (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) The cost is $10.00 for the first two cards.
Is there a way to get an officer to check on my house while we are on vacation?
Yes. You may call dispatch at (719) 276-5600.

What do I need to bring with me for someone to take my fingerprints for a criminal history check?
You need to bring a valid, government-issued photo ID. The cost is $10.00 for the first two cards.
When will my police report be ready for pick it up?
It usually takes 5-10 business days for the report to be processed. It is best to call (719) 276-5608 and see if the report is ready before you come to the police department.
