Parks, Forestry and Cemetery

Parks Division - Descriptions and Ownership Schedule

The City of Cañon City owns and operates specific parks, trails, open space, and cemetery areas in Cañon City. The City is also responsible for the oversight of contracted street tree pruning, removals and stump grinding services throughout the community. The City does not provide any park and recreation activity programming. A separate governmental district called the Cañon City Area Metropolitan Recreation & Park District schedules and provides a wide range of sports activity programming such as soccer, basketball, baseball, football, swimming, trails, and many other activities. The following tables describe the physical parks and recreation sites in the Cañon City area, their amenities, and who is responsible for ownership and maintenance of each park. See Parks Rules and Regulations  for rules, prohibitions, and permit information. For permits, click on the appropriate type: Private Use Permit or Sponsored Event Permit.
