Engineering (Permits/Projects/Stormwater)

City of Cañon City Engineering Department

Adam Lancaster, PE, CFM is the City Engineer and is responsible for the Engineering Department which includes the Permits, Projects, and Stormwater Divisions, and is staffed by seven full-time employees, and is responsible for:

1) Engineering and surveying requirements to all City departments as requested;

2) A record of all maps, capital project plans and specifications, subdivision plats, annexation plans, etc.;

3) Floodplain and storm water regulations administration;

4) Traffic engineering services;

5) Development submittal review, specifically infrastructure requirements including street/traffic/stormwater;

6) Water tap application approval; 
              
7) Design, plans and specifications, contract administration and construction inspection for capital projects, including public improvement districts, and;

8) Management of the City Geographical Information System (GIS);

9) Performs right-of-way and public infrastructure project inspections and administers Excavation Permits.
