After hour emergencies: Contact the Canon City Police Department at (719) 276-5600 who will then dispatch the appropriate Public Works employee to assist you with your problem

The Public Works Department consists of three divisions:

1. Street Division:

The Street Division is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the City’s streets, alleys & storm drainage. The Division maintains 77 miles of paved streets, 13 miles of unpaved streets, 26 miles of alleys and a complex storm drainage system comprising of detention basins and ditches. The Division also installs and maintains traffic
control devices.

2. Water Treatment Division:

The Water Treatment Plant is a 7-day, 24-hour operation throughout the year. Our plant must meet the most stringent and updated state and federal water quality regulations as identified under the Safe Drinking Water Act and all revisions thereto. Click here to review our annual

3. Water Distribution Division:

The Water Distribution Division maintains, repairs, and installs a vast network of transmission and distribution mains, off site pump stations, valves, fire hydrants and meters. The division strives to distribute the highest possible quality of water along with excellent customer service. The division has an aggressive capital improvement program that extends 20-25 years into the future that addresses growth, major projects and routine replacements of the transmission and distribution system.
