Water Tap Application
Applications for a
water tap must be made 5 working days in advance of purchase. A
building permit must be obtained within six months of the date of
purchase. If a building permit is not obtained within 6 months, the
purchase price will be refunded.
A 24-hour notice must be given to the Water Department (269-9022)
before the physical tap can be made. All materials for the meter pit
assembly, except the meter, may be picked up at the Public Works
Department and installed by the owner or contractor. The meter will
be installed by an employee of the Water Department. You must call
the Water Billing Department at City Hall (269-9015) 24 hours in
advance to have the meter installed. Someone must be onsite in order
to have the meter installed, and the pit installed must be to City
of Cañon City specifications.
Be aware that improvements (such as water main extensions or
enlargements) may be necessary before you purchase a tap.
A tapping charge based on the size of a tap will be assessed after
March 1, 1997.
CITY POLICY REQUIRES THAT A WATER TAP BE
PURCHASED PRIOR TO THE ISSUANCE OF A BUILDING PERMIT.
