Police Officer Trainee

The City of Cañon City is accepting applications from qualified individuals for the position of Police Officer Trainee for the Cañon City Police Department.

Applicants must be 21 years of age, hold a valid Driver’s License and have a High School diploma or equivalent. Colorado Peace Officer Certification (P.O.S.T.) is required before hire date. Applicants must have no prior felony convictions and pass an extensive screening and background investigation.

Work with a team orientated, full service community policing department consisting of 38 officers assigned to patrol, detectives and administration.

The starting salary is $33,355 + benefits.

The deadline for receiving applications is by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014. The testing date is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14th, 2014.

 

Part-time Museum Assistant

The City of Cañon City is accepting applications for Seasonal, Temporary Part-time Museum Assistant for the Royal Gorge Regional Museum and History Center. The person in this position will be expected to work between mid May through mid September. Duties include leading tours, assisting with basic research functions, assisting patrons find materials, performing a variety of support tasks, and assisting in the processing and cleaning of materials. Applicants need to have knowledge of and skill in customer service, working with different age groups, and utilizing standard office equipment. This is an hourly position with no benefits. Rate of pay is $8.25 per hour with weekly schedule varying but will typically be 15 to 20 hours per week including Saturdays. Pre-employment drug testing and background check are part of our screening process. Applications must be submitted to City Hall, Human Resources Department, P.O. Box 1460, 128 Main Street, Cañon City, CO 81215 prior to Friday, April 18, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
