Annual Fire Hydrant Testing & Water Main Flushing

Beginning Monday April 7, 2014 the Cañon City Water Department will begin its annual program of exercising fire hydrants throughout the system. The purpose of this program is to remove sediment and tuberculation from the water mains, which improves the water quality.

Flushing will begin at the western end of the system and work toward the eastern end. It will take about 6 weeks to complete. You may experience cloudy water or low pressure for a short period of time during this flushing program. Should you have questions, please call the Cañon City Water Department at 269-9022.

Fremont County, CO Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan - Public Involvement/Participation

Canon City is partnering with Fremont County to develop the County's Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan. Community input and involvement is instrumental in the development of a mitigation plan update that truly reflects the perceptions and needs of Fremont County residents.

A community survey has been developed; we would like as much input from Fremont County residents, businesses and interested citizens as possible. Please take a few minutes to fill out this survey so that your ideas may become a part of the plan to make Fremont County a safer and more resilient county to natural hazards!

If you have any questions concerning this survey, please don't hesitate to contact Laura Johnston at laura.johnston@tetratech.com or 303-312-8807.
