Staffed by
three full
time positions, the Building Official and two Building Inspectors,
this division is responsible for accepting and reviewing building
and mechanical permit applications, plans for code
compliance and issuing building permits. Inspections are completed
as requested by contractors and owners for construction methods,
materials, mechanical systems and location. General and limited
contractors are licensed through an application process administered
through this division. The Building Division also responds to
housing and unsafe building code complaints, and participates with
compliance officer(s) in conducting alleged health, housing and
unsafe building violation inspections.
The Cañon City
Building Division utilizes the following 2000 edition codes:
International Residential Code, the International Building Code, the
International Mechanical Code, and the International Fuel Gas Code.

Fees are determined by Ordinance and are adjusted effective February 1
of each year. Contact the Building Department for current fee
schedule(s).
